These Band of Brothers

One of the best miniseries of all time. In fact, definitely my favourite. A few months ago my brother and I were at JB HIFI @ World Square and saw this awesome box set on sale!

I remember when this was broadcasted for the first time on NINE. Looking back, its hilarious how I'd risk getting told off by my rents for not going to sleep (yes, I had a bedtime when I was in year 6/7, I'm that bad ass). :P

Not as bad ass as these people though.

The Pacific, though good and certainly having a different direction is leagues behind in terms of quality to this awesome set. With my exams finally over perhaps I'll get a chance to sit back and experience everything all over again. :D

Candy Swap September 2010 - From France to Australia

YARR, Me hearties! this be me treasaye, me loot! arrr i say, arr, yo ho ho and a bundle o' 'cavities!

Ho ho, I'm not Santa Clause, in case you had trouble reading, that was my attempt at pirate speak. :O
Last post, I had spoke about this awesome candy swap that my girlfriend and I did and well, here's all the loot that we obtained from our partner in France! Loot, Loot, Looot!  Apologies for the couple of low quality cellphone photos. In our excitement, we couldn't find where our camera was. I'm sure you'll understand.
Also, I might add that unfortunately the box was opened by customs before it got to us, it was wrapped in tape and there was a note inside that said that nothing was removed from the box. They better not have! Boo, shady corrupt custom officers. AVAST! ONLY PIRATES LIKE ME CAN PILLAGE AND PLUNDER!
The best thing about it all was that apart from there were only a few that we had not heard of before or tried. These are a couple of impressions of what we have tasted so far, I'll probably take my time to savour all of the candy though and post my impressions about each of them on this very blog soon.
Finally, we also filmed a very (how shall i put this?) enthusiastic video of the box opening featuring my girlfriend. Just want to make a statement that I'm sorry for the way I held the scissors and in no way do I condone that behavior, especially towards women. Scissor violence, Australia says 'NO!'

Candy Swap September 2010 - From L'Australie to France

Oh hey, what's up? This September I was lucky enough to participate in an exciting forum organised candy swap! Willing members of the community that live from all corners of the globe would be paired up and exchange candy. This post is dedicated to the package that I sent over. The next post will feature the goodies that I've received. Sweet.
Initially, I was paired up with a man from USA and thank God I didn't. Otherwise I would have been on the bad end of a deal, since it turned out that he would eventually flake out on me. Bitter.
Thankfully, I was able to find a new partner from France! These are the photos that he took when he finally received them. Of course, I had to send those Aussie staples such as the almighty Tim Tam. My girlfriend and I made it a point to get as much variety and candies that weren't easily obtainable in France.
These were some of his 'testimonials' from our kind offering that makes me pretty proud.

"yo dawg, we've put unhealthy food in your unhealthy candy"

"Thank you so much caromelo (the both of you) for this awesome selection. There's EVERYTHING : the famous TimTam I'll finally get to taste, natural candy, fat free candy, chocolate and caramel bars, chewy candy, sour candy, bears and even a python !"

"This thing already attacked my teeth ! (it's good though)"

I think we did a pretty great job there! The only downside is the shipping. The amount of candy was around $25 worth and for a parcel under 2kg, shipping was around $60-70. It's a bit unfair, considering prices around the world for international shipping was a lot more competitively priced, and had flat rate boxes, but I'll leave ranting about Australia Post for another.....post. Hehe.

Anyways if you are able participate in a international candy swap somehow. Go ahead! Do it! Just make sure your partner is pretty excited for it too and it'll be all good.
